Dr Rosie Walwyn

MbchB, MRCPsych and Afmcp

Working in the psychiatry department, Dr Rosie noticed how much health was siloed into physical or mental health, however many people presented with both physical and mental illness at the same time. She couldn’t help but wonder if both had the same underlying triggers. It wasn’t until she discovered Functional Medicine that she found an approach that aligned with her experience. Now she can look at everything often finding common root causes that can be identified and addressed improving people’s physical and mental health simultaneously.

Since graduating from the University of Sheffield, she has built up 18 years of clinical experience mainly working in psychiatry, particularly with dementia patients. This special interest in the management of dementia inspired her to take Dr Dale Bredesen’s ReCODE protocol training.

Dr Rosie credits Functional Medicine for her current health condition because she experienced long-covid multiple times so severely she couldn’t work for months. It was guidance from Dr Sarah that enabled her to get better. That’s why she’s so passionate about supporting patients through Functional Medicine, especially patients with complex conditions that conventional medicine struggles to treat effectively.

She feels privileged to have trained with Dr Sarah and now be part of a team taking a different approach to medicine. She’s excited to go on a joint journey with patients, empowering them to make simple but effective changes that will allow them to live longer, healthier and happier lives.

Outside of work, she spends time with her husband and two kids. Much of that time is spent orienteering as her children compete at a national level. Her own hobbies include fell running and baking.
