Dr Laura Mason

MBBS, MRCGP

Throughout her training as a general practitioner, Laura has gained a wide range of experience in various medical specialities. She has always felt limited by the time constraints of General Practice and how the focus is on individual organ systems rather than looking at the whole person and physical body together.

Discovering functional medicine through researching her own chronic illness, Laura then undertook further training through the Institute of Functional Medicine and is currently undertaking the British Society of Lifestyle Medicine (BSLM) Diploma.

Laura has always been fascinated by the link between physical health and the impact on a person’s well-being, both psychologically and socially. She is keen to empathise with and understand the person’s experience of symptoms and loves how functional medicine focuses on individualised care rather than a one-size-fits-all approach.

Functional medicine perfectly combines the detective work of looking for a root cause of a patient’s symptoms with holistic, person-centred approaches that incorporate psychology. Having struggled with the impact of chronic conditions herself, she is passionate about helping educate and empower patients to heal their own bodies and minds.

In her spare time, Laura loves to practice yoga and strength training, attend meditation classes, and listen to self-development podcasts. She is happiest when out in nature with family or visiting her family farm.
